Bahrain Dominates Gulf Youth Games with 34 Medals

Bahrain continues to rack in medals in the Gulf Youth Games.

The sporting squads have secured a total of 34 medals so far, including nine gold, 11 silver and 14 bronze.

The Games, held in the UAE for the first time, feature around 3,500 athletes competing in 26 different sports under the slogan “Our Gulf is One... Our Youth is Promising.”

Bahrain’s badminton team had recently concluded its participation with a total of five medals, notching a final bronze in the mixed team competition.

The volleyball team captured its third consecutive victory, this time against Saudi Arabia.  This win brings the team’s total to eight points, solidifying their lead and advancing them closer to gold. Their crucial matches against the UAE and Oman are still to come.

Meanwhile, the handball squad achieved its first victory against Qatar and aims to continue its strong performances in upcoming matches against the UAE and Oman to secure a podium finish. Following the match, Sayed Ahmed Ali was named the best player and was honoured by Majdi Mirza, a member of the technical committee of the Gulf Games and the Board of Directors of the Bahrain Football Association.

Both the volleyball and handball teams are having a rest day today and the action will resume tomorrow. The volleyball team will face the UAE and the handball squad will take on the Emirati national team.

Whereas the national cycling team kicked off its participation yesterday with the individual ‘Against the Clock’ competition in the youth and junior categories. The team's events, which span three days, will include individual time trials and general classifications.
