The 19th Spring of Culture Festival’s ‘From the Post’ will now take place every Saturday throughout February.
This is the third edition of the cultural activity which aims to strengthen the public’s connection with Manama’s rich heritage by inviting individuals to rediscover the city’s history, markets, old neighbourhoods, arts, and architecture.
“From the Post is our annual initiative to celebrate Manama, a symbol of coexistence, diversity, and cultural richness,” said Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, the president of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities. “This year, we delve into Manama’s history and heritage, exploring what has made it an economic, social, and cultural hub over the decades. Through a variety of activities, we invite the public to rediscover the city in a unique and engaging way.”
Each week of the programme carries a theme that shapes its activities, which range from guided tours and photography sessions to artistic experiences and panel discussions.
The first week, which was launched on February 8th, was titled Connections of Manama. Shaikh Khalifa expressed his gratitude to the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence for its collaboration in the first week, emphasising the centre’s crucial role in promoting Manama and Bahrain’s global standing in cultural and interfaith dialogue.
The day began with the Manama for All tour and Bahraini artists participated in ‘Live Outdoor Painting: Manama Canvas’, capturing their artistic interpretations of the coexistence and cultural harmony that define both Bahrain and its capital.
In the evening, visitors joined a photography tour at Minaret Al Fadhel, followed by an engaging panel discussion titled Interfaith Dialogue, hosted on Bab Al Bahrain’s balcony and led by Yousif Salahuddin.
During the session, Salahuddin shared his personal memories of religious harmony in Bahrain, reflecting on Manama as a model of a diverse and unified society.
The day concluded with a captivating performance of traditional folklore by Ismaeel Dawas Band, reviving some of Bahrain’s most cherished musical traditions.
This Saturday, the theme will be Administration of Manama, followed by the Commerce of Manama, and concluding with Architecture of Manama.
The Post Office balcony will also host Arena Café, welcoming visitors throughout the festival. The café will be open from Sunday to Wednesday between 9am and 6pm, and from Thursday to Saturday between 9am and 9pm.
