Bahrain kicked off the new year on a high note with the national football team bringing home the 26th Arabian Gulf Cup…and everyone on the island could not wait to celebrate them.
The team and its administrative and technical staff returned from the final match in Kuwait to a warm reception at the Bahrain International Airport….and that was just the beginning. They all then hopped onto a vibrant victory bus to parade around Muharraq and Riffa.
Fans lined the streets cheering on the champions as they drove past residences and landmarks until reaching the Bahrain National Stadium.
They were then greeted and congratulated by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa alongside thousands more supporters. His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty's Representative for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), and His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the SCYS, President of the General Sports Authority, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, were also there to revel in the momentous occasion.
The festivity then began including a commemorative photo of His Majesty with the team players, a fireworks display and performances.
This is Bahrain's second Gulf Cup title in history.
