As the countdown begins, Bahrain is just 30 days away from hosting the prestigious World Weightlifting Championships, a landmark event taking place from December 4 to 15.
Under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty the King's Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, the championships will occur in a venue adjacent to the Bahrain National Theater.
This event is organised by the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) in cooperation with the Bahrain Weightlifting Federation (BWF), with oversight from the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF).
The organising committee, led by His Excellency Mr. Eshaq Ebrahim Eshaq, president of the BWF, is actively engaged in a series of continuous meetings to ensure the successful execution of this inaugural international weightlifting championship in Bahrain.
The committee is focused on achieving optimal readiness by delineating roles among various working groups, fostering a collaborative environment aimed at ensuring a seamless and successful championship.
Bahrain's commitment to excellence in hosting international sporting events has already been demonstrated through its successful organization of the Asian Weightlifting Championships in October 2022.
This previous event garnered significant acclaim, showcasing Bahrain's capability to host large-scale competitions. The success of the Asian Championships played a pivotal role in securing the World Weightlifting Championships for Bahrain, overcoming bids from four other countries—Armenia, Albania, Peru, and Venezuela.
The upcoming championships are not only a testament to Bahrain's growing prominence in the global sports arena but also serve to bolster its reputation as a premier destination for major sporting events. The organising committee is dedicated to ensuring that this championship sets a new standard for international competitions and further enhances Bahrain's standing on the global sports map.
