HH Sh Nasser and HH Sh Khalid extend a warm welcome to the champions of the Hangzhou 2023 Asian Games in Bahrain

Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the representative of the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, has recently expressed his appreciation for Bahrain's exceptional athletes who performed brilliantly at the 19th Asian Games held in Hangzhou, China in 2023. He hailed their sporting accomplishments as a testament to the remarkable spirit and patriotism of Bahraini sportspeople.

Sheikh Nasser, alongside Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the General Sports Authority, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, extended a warm welcome to the champions of the Hangzhou 2023 Asian Games, as well as various dignitaries, officials, sports federation presidents, sponsors, and supporters. Sheikh Nasser conveyed greetings and congratulations from King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

He expressed his deep admiration for Bahrain's outstanding performance at the 2023 Games, where they secured the ninth position in Asia and emerged as the top Arab country. Bahrain's athletes achieved an impressive haul of 12 gold medals, 3 silver medals, and 5 bronze medals, marking the highest number of gold medals they have ever won since their debut in the Asian Games in 1974. Furthermore, they established seven new Asian Games records, making a historic impact.

Sheikh Nasser went on to mention that King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa closely followed the national teams' progress during the tournament, despite the time zone differences. He commended the athletes for their unwavering determination, resilience, and fighting spirit in athletics, weightlifting, wrestling, handball, and jiu-jitsu. These achievements showcased the substantial growth of Bahraini sports and the exceptional talent of its athletes. Sheikh Nasser also acknowledged the vital contributions and sacrifices of the technical and administrative staff, recognizing their pivotal role in this remarkable accomplishment.
