Rapper Kendrick Lamar fascinated Super Bowl LIX fans, becoming the first solo hip-hop artist to perform during its halftime show.
The popular Compton star, who was nominated five times at the Grammys this year for songs like ‘Not Like Us’, performed several of his hot hits including the Drake-diss track, making this show more than memorable.
His set included many cameos and special guests such as SZA.
“I’m just grateful to be a part of it,” said the ’All the Stars’ singer as she captivated onlookers with her starry rendition of that collab track and for her recent piece with Kendrick- ‘Luther’.
“His performance is incredible,” she added.
This wasn’t the first time the two artists joined forces. In fact, their first project together dates back to 2014, with the song ‘Babylon’, which was featured on her album called ‘Z’. In total, she and Kendrick have teamed up on seven occasions, the most recent being ‘30 for 30’- the third track of her newest album ‘SOS Deluxe : Lana’.
SZA shared that she’d love to create an album with Kendrick, but nothing is planned yet. “I think that would be amazing,” she said. “He is such a genius.”
And guess what, the rapper and the singer have announced new dates of touring together in 2025. The Grand National Tour will start on April 19th in Minnesota and will then continue in other major American cities such as Texas, Los Angeles or Philadelphia later this year.
As for the Super Bowl, Kendrick’s performance included other special guests such as the famous tennis player Serena Williams, actor Samuel L. Jackson and DJ Mustard.
