The Halftime Show is set to take place Feb. 9, 2025 in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Kendrick Lamar will headline the 2025 Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show on Feb. 9, 2025, in New Orleans, Louisiana. This marks his second appearance at the NFL’s premier event, following his 2022 performance as a special guest during Dr. Dre’s West Coast hip-hop showcase. This time, Lamar will take center stage, becoming only the second rapper to headline the show. Reflecting on the honor, Lamar said, "Rap music remains the most influential genre, and I’m here to remind everyone of that. They picked the right one."
Although Lamar hasn’t released an album since 2022’s Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers, 2024 has been a standout year for the rapper. He contributed a verse on Future and Metro Boomin’s Hot 100-topping single “Like That,” sparking a high-profile rap feud with Drake. Their heated exchange led to a series of diss tracks, culminating in Lamar’s hit “Not Like Us,” which ended the beef and became a massive success. The track topped the Hot 100 for two nonconsecutive weeks, amassing 765 million U.S. streams since its May 4 release.
The Super Bowl Halftime Show, airing live on Fox from New Orleans’ Caesars Superdome, will be the sixth produced by Roc Nation. JAY-Z’s company, which partnered with the NFL in 2019, oversees the event's entertainment and social justice initiatives. Reflecting on Lamar’s upcoming performance, JAY-Z said, “Kendrick Lamar is a once-in-a-generation artist whose deep connection to hip-hop and culture fuels his creative vision. His ability to shape and influence global culture is unmatched, and his legacy will endure long after the music fades.”
