The track, from Perry's upcoming dance-pop album 143, drops Friday, Sept. 13.
Katy Perry is making a comeback with her new single and video, “I’M HIS, HE’S MINE,” featuring rapper Doechii, set to drop on Friday, Sept. 13. Perry took to social media on Sept. 10 to reveal the news, giving fans a glimpse of the track, which is part of her upcoming dance-pop album 143, arriving on Sept. 20.
“I wrote these songs based on my personal experiences throughout my transformation, and he was just one of the people who helped bring that to life. One of the many writers and producers involved.”
Perry clarified, “This is my story. When I talk about ‘Woman’s World,’ I’m expressing how empowered I feel now as a mother, as a woman who’s created life… I’m still a matriarch and deeply rooted in that. That’s the perspective I’m coming from. So I made this project with a mix of collaborators, including some from the ‘Teenage Dream’ days.”
Perry first shot to stardom with her 2008 album One of the Boys, thanks to the blockbuster hit “I Kissed a Girl,” her first No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Her third album, Teenage Dream (2010), made history, producing five consecutive Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 singles, a feat only Michael Jackson had achieved before. Songs like “Firework,” “California Gurls,” and “E.T.” cemented Perry’s status as a global pop icon.
She continued her chart-topping streak with Prism (2013) and Witness (2017), with singles like “Roar” and “Dark Horse” both hitting No. 1. Throughout her career, Perry has collected nine Billboard Hot 100 No. 1s, 14 Top 10 hits, and numerous accolades, including being named Billboard’s Woman of the Year in 2012.
